Kitchen Battle

Kitchen Battle is the biggest charity culinary competition in Romania. Over three consecutive evenings, six recognized chefs and their teams cook delicious meals for 450 guests, Chef Adi Hădean is the moderator and MC of the event.

A remarkable event, with two noble goals: to provide hot meals to vulnerable people supported by the #SocialFood program of the association founded by Chef Hădean and to remind that joy is greater when you share with others, especially the meal. Kitchen Battle is a concept initiated 15 years ago in Switzerland by the organization Cuisine sans Frontières and Kitchen Battle Romania is the first event to take place outside Switzerland, thanks to the partnership between the well-known Swiss organization and Chef Adi Hădean.

I also had the pleasure of a private tour of the National Gallery of Bucharest by art expert Adrian Buga. Together with Theodora Morosanu I was treated to an introduction to the most prominent national romantic painters from Romania. Analyzing the differences between Nicolae Grigorescu and his contemporary Theodor Aman, we learned about society and history of the period.
Adrian Buga is an exceptional educator and provided great conversations on a number of art related topics. He has the ability to swiftly narrow in on the essential qualities of an artwork and present its message in a clear and engaging way.

As if this was not enough, Buga walked us down the street to visit the home and studio of Theodor Aman (1831 – 1891). The villa is located a stones throw away from the palace on victory square that houses the gallery. Inside the house we could now make out interiors we had just seen in Amans paintings.
