Art Press

ART-PRESS empowers communication professionals to support

independent artists in performance and visual arts through

specialized training in artistic PR. Rooted in creativity, collaboration,

and digital innovation, the project addresses gaps in vocational

education by building skills in artist branding, media relations, and

digital storytelling. By connecting Romanian and Norwegian expertise,

ART-PRESS fosters a future-ready PR ecosystem that amplifies artistic

voices across cultural and geographic borders.

Art Press is a collaboration between Comm On (Ro) and Morten Bruun (No).

As the Norwegian partner we will provide experts to head a seminar in Oslo.

Morten Bruun is the artistic director and Ivone Staron will oversee the development

of the curriculum that accompanies our course. Together we hope to empower

Romanian communications professionals in their efforts to promote art in society.

Themes we will explore:

1. Strategic PR in the Arts

· Building narratives around artistic work: live, physical, or digital

· Crafting campaigns for events (premieres, exhibitions) vs. long-term career visibility

· Media relations: how to pitch to cultural media, blogs, influencers, and institutions

· Digital PR and audience-building (social media, content formats, newsletters)

· Online identity and visibility for artists — from portfolio to personality

2. PR as Artist Advocacy

· Understanding the socio-economic vulnerabilities of independent artists

· The PR professional as a translator between artistic value and public relevance

· Using communication to protect, elevate, and sustain creative voices

· Positioning artists within larger cultural conversations: environment, identity, inclusion

· Strategic partnerships and audience education: how to build cultural bridges

3. Cultural Sensitivity & Cross-Border Communication

· Promoting artists across different geographies and cultural mindsets

· Storytelling that adapts to both local and global audiences

· Navigating ethical challenges in representation and identity

4. Practice-Based Modules

· Designing a PR campaign for a performance and for an exhibition

· Artist branding and positioning (individual vs. collective, emerging vs. established)

· Mock interviews, press pitches, and digital campaign planning

· Roleplay: reputation management and navigating a cultural controversy
